Question Time - Awkward Edition

It was quite a morning yesterday - I stepped out the door to go to work, realized it was raining rather heavily than I had imagined and decided to go back to get an umbrella. But I was spotted on the way up the stairs by the man who fixed our ceiling, his assistant and the superintendent, who caught me in their conversation and shared their hilarious anecdotes about laminate flooring for about half an hour before an opportunity for escape presented itself. By then I had decided not to bother with the train and just worked from home instead.

And I think it's once again time to open a question that came up between me and Whitney up to whoever reads this. I've been tweaking words around in this post for a while, because this might be something of an awkward one, but here goes in the best way I could find to phrase it anyway...

What do you wear while you're sleeping?

The original question was about whether there was an obvious difference in males and females preferring to wear something while asleep - anonymous comments are allowed and indeed strongly encouraged, though you'd have to also indicate your gender. Hitting me on the head with your handbag and stalking off is not encouraged, but honestly expected.

Male - nothing, ever. Unless I'm sharing a room with someone, when I'll wear a shirt and boxers or something, but that feels uncomfortable.

Blue plaid flannel pyjamas!

I don't understand: is this a subject people are supposed to be prudish about, for some reason? And if so, what possible difference could it make to my young life whether or not anyone else knows what I'm wearing whilst I'm asleep? If anyone with any direct interest in the matter were around at the time, the answer should be immediately apparent to them, and in such a happy event the answer would naturally, at least for its duration, be 'not very much'...

I would freeze if I didn't wear super big pyjamers, I feel the cold really easily, specially at certain times of the month

And also I have bed socks cos what if the spiders touch my feet while I'm asleep *squiggles* but then why don't I mind wearing hotpant style pyjamers with bare legs then...cos theres all the legs but I still wear the socks incase of spiders...oh my brain is so... broken.

Usually nothing. If particularly cold or on my own I wear a big t-shirt, and if at a friend's I wear a pair of shorts too.

I always wear pyjamas, not for reasons of prudishness, but because I find it uncomfortable (physically, as opposed to psychologically) to wear little or nothing. It's probably something to do with the sensation of having too much skin-on-skin contact with myself, which I don't like very much, but it's unavoidable when you like to sleep in scrunched up positions. Nighties are right out though, because they end up round your armpits within the first ten minutes, giving you the worst of both worlds.

I pass no judgement on other people's sleepwear, or lack thereof, as it's personal decision taken by grownups and those who they might encounter while wearing it.

Normally nothing, although I've taken to wearing underwear and my dressing gown in bed since it's gotten colder, as my room is right at the north edge of the house, and it gets freezing in here sometimes.

It depends on the day; I vary wildly from nice comfy yet girly pyjamas to old Tshirts and boxers.

... but then, I am generally androgynous in many lifestyle matters, so there we go!

[Unknown site tag] is coldest person on the planet. She wears as many layers as possible, takes a hot water bottle to bed, along with a microwaveable cushion, an extra single duvet for her side of the bed, plus a blanket. That's a normal night. Even with all that, it is still like being touched by a block of ice.

as David knows quite well, I get very cold at night, but my body runs very warm. So while I am shivering and yelling at him to keep is freezing cold hands off my body, he uses me as a radiator. I think the being cold, is probably a girl thing.

The sound of "ooh, you're so warm!" "GET YOUR BLOCK OF ICE HANDS OFF ME!" is pretty common in our house too, my husband is like a furnace.

Usually a tank top and knickers. I wear pajama pants and a dressing gown while we watch films or whatever, but I'm a really restless sleeper so real pajamas tend to be uncomfortable in bed.

This may seem odd, but I almost always sleep in my clothes. I'm pretty lazy, so my usual routine when it's bed time to to just go lay down in the bed and fall asleep. :)
