Stumbling through Spelunky
Here’s a video for today! As usual, I’m playing a game far too late - here is my very first exploration through old-style exploration platformer Spelunky. In fact, I came to this so late that there was already a remake out by the time I got there.

Playing this game involves the precise use of bombs, and the video goes about as well as you could expect given that piece of information.

The gameplay mechanic of damsels, as you have noticed, is that a kiss gives you a health point, either from a rescued one at the end of the level or from a kissing booth, with attendant floating marginal UnfortunateImplications depending on how one interprets it. It is also possible to try to steal the damsel from the kissing booth for some ComedicSociopathy (which angers the shopkeeper), additional possible UnfortunateImplications included.
The problem I had with the first one was that if one were to (in my case accidentally) whip such a damsel, the shopkeeper would say something to the effect of “Only I am allowed to do that!” before attacking (I don't remember the exact text), which was where I decided it had gone far enough that I didn't want to play it anymore…
I'm told this is toned down in the remake, though! (Also that you get your choice of damsel model: you can rescue distressed dudes or distressed dogs instead, if you prefer, or some randomized combination of all three. I think.)
