You found one of my most memorable memories of that game: the damage enemy creatures deal is impossible to predict! I played maybe a dozen games of Drakken, when it was released--because, hey: those graphics!--and randomly the same enemy might die in two hits; or may kill two of my party members, cripple the third, and cause a game over in the wilderness.
You were just getting to the good part, though, where the game thinks you can remember all the bizarre names, and where they relate to on the map. Oh, you traveled far to Leounsoonle? Yah. . no, you were meant to go to Leounsoonleu. Yeah, it's on the opposite side of the map actually. Yah, you're going to die on the way there.
But hey, those lizard men are kind of hot though :)
