Some Scandinavians have done a cover version of one of my songs. Strangely enough it wasn't even what I consider to be one of my best songs, it was just a side project that I did as a theme for someone's online clan somewhere or other.

It can be found on Unlight's page, and is called "The Last Time". Regardless of what you think of the genre of music and vocals (pretty scary, I'd imagine - I have to admit that it's about the polar opposite of the vocal style that I felt ideal for my music) I think the fact that someone felt compelled to do this is a very good sign indeed. There weren't even any lyrics for the original version...

Hey David...this is what a friend of mine suggested:

Now, what I think is this. Some computery person (aka a programmer) should make a Word plugin wherein you can enter the number of words you need to complete the assignment, and then when you do a word count it will automatically calculate what percentage you have done. It could also make encouraging comments like, "you can do it!" and "who wants a paying job anyway?".

I was wondering - can you do this? If not, do you know anyone who can?

It sounds like it would be dead easy to do as a stand-alone program that you could feed a file, but I'm not sure about incorporating it in to Word. Maybe as a Visual Basic macro, but I've forgotten everything I ever learned about that language, and I think that the macro would have to be unique to each document.

Do you know where l_s_q could get her hands on some german oompa techno music or something similarly bizarre to give to a colleague who has decided that LSQ has, like, the BEST taste in music?

I'm afraid there's nothing that fits that description in my collection - if it's bizarre you're looking for, Andrew Kepple's probably done a Flash animation based on it.
