Olympus Digitus Camerus CCCXL
Sep. 13th, 2004 09:58 pmI've only got two more days of work left before leaving for St Andrews - Wednesday and Friday. Morag (the oldest employee) seemed incredibly annoyed that I'd phoned while she was in the kitchen to find out my hours, the miserable old woman that she is. But she does make good pies, so she's forgiven.
After finally finding a pair of pliers so that I could tune my guitar (it's second hand and one of the pegs is missing, you see) I can now play most of Stratovarius' "Hunting High and Low" on it - it's dead easy, really, but does tend to hurt my hands after a while.
Coincidentally, hunting high and low was what I was doing later, trying to find the software CD for the family digital camera. As I've mentioned before, despite being a Professor of Information Management, my dad keeps a huge amount of unlabelled copied CDs along with genuine ones in identical cases, so the task was made rather difficult. I found what I hoped was the right CD, but when I ran it it just installed QuickStitch and other garbage which I was compelled to delete instantly.
Eventually I got the camera working through Win XP's collection of drivers, but it's slow - as you would expect from a serial port device that was made around the time that the telephone was invented. I can't seem to delete any pictures from it, but they're removed if I move the images from camera to hard drive. So I'll take it with me in just under a week, and the Union-goers will have one more digital camera to fear.
