Shreddage - My Children
Sep. 18th, 2012 07:19 pmExperimenting in Shreddage again as a break from all the insanity! This time, I was trying a song I wrote in 2009 that had got stuck in my head again - I put the rhythm section from My Children through it, and... well, out came Time to Live by Gamma Ray, actually, but I think I can take that as a measure of some success.
My aim with this is to get it to a point where I'd be happy actually write and release new songs in it - that is, getting it to sound better than the Modplug version! So far I love the sound of the rhythm section, though I need to spend some more time on the leads - with a more realistic-sounding background, any non-human behaviour in them is very apparent. For that to happen, I think that I need to piece together a soundfont bank that has some vibrato and portamento in it - I only just noticed that the eight or so default soundfonts are out of a selection of about fifty that come with Shreddage.
And also get up the courage to put some vocals to it, even if I can just tell myself they're placeholders until someone more appropriate is secured.
