Xtrememas Violence Party
Dec. 3rd, 2014 03:15 pmThis account of what Christmas parties are like at Stainless Games hovers between kind of shocking at what they're doing with our Kickstarter money and entirely forgivable due to being one of the funniest things I've ever read. It reads like The Young Ones organizing a Christmas party, with all the requisite things being set on fire and half the office being razed to the ground by the end.
Year by year, their experimentation just escalates from there:
Eventually, after the year they manage to take down most of the office ceiling, a truce is called and an email goes out:
The series - and now this - have always given the impression of being made by just locking a lot of highly dangerous people in an office and a game being produced as a sort of side effect of that.
So, when walking back from the pub at midnight, I was reminded of [the broken office microwave] by a certain individual visiting from Ze Mainland, whose identity I will protect. Otherwise he will shoot me. You see, he said "Well then, what about that microwave?" as we passed his car parked outside of his hotel. At that point he popped his boot ('trunk', OK, if you're a Yank? Jesus, it's our bloody language, give us it back!), and produced a double-barrelled 12-bore shotgun and a box of shells.
Year by year, their experimentation just escalates from there:
This time, the microwave was outside, on fire, and full of gas canisters. As you will see in the footage, the explosion was quite large.
Eventually, after the year they manage to take down most of the office ceiling, a truce is called and an email goes out:
Most importantly though, somebody *is* going to get hurt - probably seriously. Sam could have been killed or at least maimed for life last year had I not pulled her away from the burning microwave just before the second cataclysmic explosion. [...] People should feel able to come back to the post-pub party without fearing for their lives.
