Look at this!



Just look at it! This astonishing front cover was done by Jubatian, who (rather appropriately) found me through my coverage of Albion as a song subject, many years ago when I posted on Modplug.

I had been thinking about what I wanted this cover to look like for a long time, but I had no idea who to approach until I remembered about his rather beautiful desolate cityscapes. Even then, I had absolutely no idea that I would get something that was equal in detail to Iron Maiden's covers - apparently I just happened to email at exactly the right moment, when he wanted to start a big art project but didn't know exactly what he wanted to draw. And after exchanging ideas, a terrible sketch by me was gradually painted into what you see up there now.

I really admire people who have the talent to draw - it's an incredible thing, watching someone perform a process that you can't do.

I've done a back cover as well, complete with the final track listing (but not the final track times) - it feels unimaginably strange to even associate my music with something this professional-looking... now I really need to press on and put the finishing touches on the introduction, final and bonus songs, before releasing it for real at some point this month. I just couldn't resist the appropriateness of announcing such an accidentally maritime-themed album on May Day.

I am also looking forward for this album - I mean the beautiful music, eh ;) Glad you liked the art, it was interesting, and quite rewarding to do this work for you! Interesting for the motives like ice and medieval age ships which I didn't try myself at before, and rewarding as for the entire work you made me feeling I really can inspire you with my progress! Hope you will get all fine with finishing whatever tunes you feel missing from this massive album - so far for me it sounds quite an advancement in developing further your unique style!

Beautiful artwork - reminds me of the classic 1970's rock covers that you used to get on vinyl albums.

Drawing is one huge gap that I've never been able to fill... I've always wanted to be able to do it, but I've never invested the necessary time or energy to really learn. That's why I'm so absolutely amazed at the people who can produce things like this, and very flattered that they agree to associate their work with mine!

Power metal album artwork never really evolved away from the style that came from those huge vinyl covers, even though physically it's got so much smaller now... it's something that you can instantly recognize the genre by :)
