I acquired the demo of Silent Hill 4 yesterday, and was alone in the house for most of today. That's not a good thing. They've decided to put sections of it in first-person, with the result I'll be wanting to play it on my own at night even less than any other in the series (which was none of the time).

From what I can see of it, the game is most odd - I know that all of them are, but this one is more so. All the other ones in the series started off with a confusing "nightmare" sequence (with the exception of 2, which had half an hour of running around and being stuck) but it looks like the whole game is going to be like that this time. Of course, weirdness is what you expect from a game about someone who discovers a portal to another dimension in his bathroom after his flat door becomes mysteriously chained closed. But that makes it sound too funny - it's deeply scary. Now, what's behind me? Oh, just the window... for now. Good.

I'm not very impressed with the issue of OPSM2 that it came with, though. It seems to have become FHM.

What I never understood about those games is why there isn't a "climb over the cardboard box instead of running round for hours to try and find a way around it" option.

Probably because the developers thought the gamers would have more fun trying to get around the box than simply climbing over it. Which doesn't make a lot of sense...

Oh, and hi WCB.

You and your acronyms. I had to read that last sentence 4 times.
