Bust-A-Muscle
Oct. 18th, 2004 06:53 pmMost of this afternoon was spent struggling with James McKinna's practical. He's become rather a legend in the CS department for introducing his Reading Party talk in Japanese. Unfortunately at the time I did miss the opportunity to tell him to shut up ("Urusai"). Just about my entire Japanese vocabulary comes from playing Sonic Adventure with English subtitles on Barry's Dreamcast, so I'm limited to mild insults and discussions about who's stolen the chaos emeralds.
Dinner tonight was truly awful - it consisted of the bizarre lumpy AMH chicken risotto accompanied by pasta that was so hard that it could have been used to screw shelves in to a wall. It's the first meal in my two years here that has made me feel compelled to go down and write out a slip complaining about it, which I did.
Now that I have completed my objective of passing the Hard 1 course, I suppose it's time to go a stage further and look at Hard 2. As you'd expect, they're all on Expert difficulty.
1. Trip Machine Climax (9) - That's a harder start than I expected. I think I've played that song once, it's a fast Paranoia Rebirth-style thing. That could present a problem to start off with.
2. Exotic Ethnic (9) - Now I can see that I'm going to have to radically alter my play style to have a hope of getting past this one... there are a lot of crossovers there where you have to turn yourself around to use alternate feet. Oh well, at least Andrew said the song was rather good.
3. Afronova Primeval (9) - I hated that song, always. Actually I've only ever played it a couple of times, but I can see it's similar to the last one. Look at the BPM as well, it's getting faster. This is very bad news for my ankles.
4. Tsugaru (9) - At last, a song I recognise. I'm not sure if I could do it on this difficulty, though at least there's a long rest in the middle.
5. MAX 300 (10) - No.
Well, seems like I won't be passing that any time soon.
