Changing Rooms
Dec. 13th, 2008 11:29 pmThere's a bit on Food Network just now that's honestly called The Secret Life of Fruitcake. I can't imagine that it has anything particularly exciting that we don't know about.
My concentration was cleaning the off-white tiles and black grout of the shower, but even though I tried scrubbing them with some sort of organic Whole Foods magic bleach made out of pine trees and unicorn milk, I quickly found that the grime was really the only thing holding the wall up and the layer of tiles was bulging out worryingly when pressure was applied. After a new shower curtain and bath mat were provided, though, along with a couple of other things in the living room like a rug and cover for the tatty sofa, it really did look a lot better. I should have taken 'before' and 'after' photos.
Most of the help that we provided was in taking a pile of boxes that were lying around to our own flat because we, unlike him, have cupboards - we had more than enough room for a hired car boot full of them, and the only effect on us will be that I have to remember to take the collected cardboard out more than twice a year when we run out of space. Related to this, he's given us his Gamecube that he hadn't used in ages, along with a heap of Zelda games, Eternal Darkness, Mario Kart, a couple of other things and EA NHL/NFL 06/05 or one of the other completely identical sports games that I picked up off the shelf by accident.
I did, however, neglect to check that he'd given us any controllers for it, so we'll only be able to use it once I visit him during the week, but after that our list of potential hires from Gamefly just got a lot larger.
- Bake
- Sit on a shelf for eighty years
- Disintegrate
