Six Course Meal
Dec. 31st, 2008 11:50 amFor the last night of the year, Whitney's family are taking us out to an Italian place in nearby Oakland. Even after looking at the online menu I'm not sure what the set dinner is, but I've done my best with it:
To Begin: Affetato misto of Oliveto salumi: violino di Chiavenna, bresaola, salame cruda, with Fresh porcini Mushroom conserva | To Begin Affectionate... gaseous salami with olives? Violin of something Women's undergarments Salami not-very-good with fresh pork and mushroom jam? |
Antipasto: Winter Root Vegetables, Artichokes & Herbs with castelmagno Cheese | At a walking pace Fairly self-explanatory, though I'm not sure what it really all is |
Intermezzo: Italian Chestnut and grappa vellutata "Cappucino" with Wild Mushroom duxelles | Bridge Italian Chestnut and... fat grapes in swirly coffee Wild Mushroom small ducks |
Primo: Agnolotti dal plin of Magruder Ranch vitello with White Truffle Butter (or of Bellwether Farm Sheep's Milk ricotta and Parmesan ) | Really fast and loud Hmm. Stuck-together on a table Magruder Ranch... small musical instrument, with the taste of money |
Secondo: Magruder Ranch Wild Boar: Spit-roasted Loin and Belly, Shoulder Braised with gigante Beans, and polpettini with Wild Mushrooms or Local Petrale Sole Stuffed with White Shrimp and Hazelnuts with Wild Nettles (Vegetarian entree also available) | Repeat from first verse This one's in English and I'm actually really looking forward to it. It has... enormous beans and... small potted plants with wild mushrooms Or! Sole in Italian car fuel, with... wild nettles? Miserable vegetarians. |
