It's nearly Christmas! Here, have some heavy metal (as seems to have become my custom in recent years).

I've been unsure what to think about Theocracy for many years, because on one hand, I have great admiration for Matt Smith (ace, geronimo, etc.) because he started out in the same music writing situation that I'm currently in, recording his entire first album solo at home, then just got recognition by being good. On the other hand, well, he chose to call himself Theocracy, is from Georgia (the one in America) and you can hear the usual subject matter of his songs.
Now, I don't find it any more distracting in metal than any other mythology (up to and including Lord of the Rings and biomechanical invaders from Atlantis) but it made me wonder if I wanted to show support for him - he doesn't sound like he's one of the mental ones from his lyrics, but that danger's always there. Eventually, I decided that he couldn't be, because if you're a really insane Christian, then metal is one of the things that's totally outlawed no matter what its content is, along with sexuality, non-evangelical literature, independent thought, mashing turnips, dancing, talking and smiling.
Besides, with words like "the Son shines bright tonight"... well, if you don't admire wordplay like that, then you're not Richard Whiteley.
