That show was just heartbreaking from time to time. It really was great - I remember at the start of the second series they had Kestrel killing one of the shrews or other small rodents without realising it was one of the farthing woods ones and being terribly upset and apologetic to her lunch's son, meaning it. It was scarring at the time, although, in retrospect, it sounds utterly ridiculous, which, to be fair, it really was, rather undermining its own premise.
