A facebook message I wrote to Arthur about a talk, which I was thinking of copying to Tony, my PhD student friend who's organising said talks.

I've got a 45-60 minute slot to give a talk on what I like, and I had a talk which I gave for a 15 minute slot in about 30 minutes which probably contained 45 minutes of material which I'd really like to give.

It's incredibly dull if you aren't me, but stilll...

I know what you mean... I once found myself filling an entire 50-minute lecture slot with what was intended to be a fifteen minute talk, and that was about benchmarking. It was interesting when I was doing it.

Despite what I said I did go back and complete 7 Days eventually, but it didn't really make me feel any more comfortable after finishing it. I even made a start on Trilby's Notes, but was transported into a Silent Hill-like alternate dimension and was compelled to turn it off instantly.

It's strange that someone who writes humour articles (even the walkthroughs for the games are quite funny) managed to produce something so incredibly frightening. Had you played them before, or did you go through them all after I mentioned it?

I'd never seen R before, and I can see why people think it's an appalling language. It looks almost like C, where there seems to be an unwritten rule that no variables can contain any vowels and must be called things like _rdPTR and *mV.
