It would appear I'm in my mid-twenties now. I woke up to several emails reminding me, about half of which were automated greetings from forums - but thank you for the birthday wishes. I feel slightly bad myself about not really remembering anyone's birthdays apart from those that happen to be on the same day as mine, even though things like Facebook and Livejournal relentlessly remind us that they're coming up.

Being 23 wasn't as amazingly remarkable as I had perhaps feared, although once again I'm surprised that it's come round again so quickly. That also means I've been working for just over two years in America.

Whitney got me the card you can see on the left. Apparently it's meant to be me. And it reassures me inside that I won't be an 'alien' soon, but seeing as the last time I phoned the immigration service they were still processing applications from November 2007 it might be a while yet. She also gave me a new self-cleaning semi-sentient shaver, and I received a couple of albums from her parents - who probably buy me the most music now as I keep forgetting to do it myself.

I also got an e-card from my parents with a teddy bear on it. I think their ideal aging process for me is something like a tenth of the rate that it's progressing just now.

Happy birthday, man! 24, eh? *goes to do a Jack Bauer-related joke, then thinks better of it and gives cake instead*

Hope you have a great day!

I've always felt an affinity to the number 24 due to being born on the 24th of the month (September) and all that. Plus it's 42 backwards. Certainly when it does come to 2012 there shall be a lot of '24 on the 24th!' waggery from me.

Happy birthday!

Happy Birthday! Hope you're having a great day!

24 is really young. One thing I've discovered by doing postgraduate study and moving to London is how much older 'old' is than I realised.

Hehe, the advert I got after your post was from eBay and said this:

£0.99 PERSONALISED HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY POEM A4 LAMINATED
£0.99 PERSONALISED HAPPY 60th BIRTHDAY POEM A4 LAMINATED
£0.99 PERSONALISED HAPPY 70th BIRTHDAY POEM A4 LAMINATED
£0.99 PERSONALISED HAPPY BIRTHDAY BROTHER POEM A4 LAMINATED
£0.99 PERSONALISED HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD POEM A4 LAMINATED

I don't think you're quite 50 yet! At least it got the brother part right. Enjoy being 24, even if I can't quite believe you are...

Advert? You willingly upgraded your account knowing the horrors that came attached?

I'd be more concerned about the 'Happy Birthday Dad' poem, to be honest. Maybe eBay knows something David doesn't.
