A thought

I don't want anyone to think that I consider this a problem or anything, but it just occurred to me a couple of days ago that out of all the unseen (and... actually met, now) friends who I've connected with the most over the Internet, who I've found through common interests in communities and have evolved into regularly speaking with over IM, the people who I feel I have the most in common with... not a single one of them is straight.

So what went wrong with me, then?

But no, seriously, I'd say it's something along the lines of, discovering that you're gay more-or-less prompts a person to start adopting a more open-minded look on life, but it's not the only thing that can.

.. actually it might just be that, on the refinedness scale, "american gay" is "UK straight"...

It sounds like a likely theory. I think that moment happened to me halfway through my first year of university, when I discovered I was a fanatical moron (with some assistance).

I want there to be some sort of mathematical formula for unit conversion between UK and American sexualities, like we have for Celcius/Farenheit or metric/imperial.

Are the British considered on average to be more... fruity than the Americans? Because we in general think that of the Europeans! I wonder if they in turn have anyone else to use as a measuring stick...

Oh, that's terrible :) At least I have the get-out clause of "met through the Internet" - "met through the Sinner" isn't quite the same!

I miss that. We should pick a weekend and all pile back into the chatroom one of these days.

But I'm sure the japanese consider the americans more effete than themselves, because they're willing to be seen crying! It's a big cycle. :P

Actually, now that I think about it, another facet of the people I'm thinking of specifically is that they all choose to represent themselves as upright talking lapine/canine/avian/reptilian/etc creatures. Which may be the more objectively worrying aspect of all this, even though it honestly hadn't occurred to me when I wrote the original post.
