Hey, you lot - go and vote along with the other 41% of the American population expected to do so today. The other 59% won't realize how much they miss the opportunity until they don't have it (not that I'm saying this is likely to happen to anyone soon, but anything's possible with the sort of backward maniacs you get in politics around here).

I suspect the time has already passed to stop encouraging the Americans and go back to laughing at them, but what can you do.

kjorteo has repeatedly described to me the huge advantage gained by voting early, absentee, by post, whatever you want to call it, and I'm not sure why more people don't do it, or why more states don't allow it. The political sites I read all name the weather as a huge factor in which way an election goes...

I voted early but not a single frigging one of my friends can be bothered. I have encouraged, mocked, and lost my temper with them, but they just spout "My vote doesn't coooount" defeatist nonsense and go back to playing video games.

I am so incensed.

Yes, if even half of those people who can't be bothered to use it actually voted, then the world would be a much better place... the UK is slipping in this regard as well, dipping well below a 70% turnout recently.
