In keeping with America's talent for doing things to absolute excess, this is what the weather looks like today. It seems to just keep on getting hotter every year - the actual "feels like" temperature has been reported to get up to 115, which is obviously far too much for anybody. Not that I'm particularly bothered by it at the moment here in the office - I'm very glad that they invented air conditioning - but outside, the air is nearly thick enough to swim in.

The spaces underneath the trees in the car park had already been taken when I arrived, and I'm beginning to wonder about the temperature at which the dashboard and seats are likely to burst into flames - not helped by certain alarming language that the weather site chooses to use in a demonstrative slideshow. After about twenty minutes, they declare the car is an oven (and, presumably, baking is wild) and their inside temperature indicator has grown into something that resembles an exploding sun.

Thinking back to the episode about the hot day in Black Books, where Dave's Syndrome was said to trigger when the weather got into very high temperatures, makes me realize that this country really has changed my worldview in so many tiny little ways. It seems completely laughable to me now that the impossibly unbearable temperature that they chose was eighty-eight degrees.

Meanwhile, in Dundee it's raining and pulley weather. I'm glad I went to London, because they had some summer there :)

88 degrees - Celsius or Fahrenheit?

There is a trick that I saw a couple of days ago which I have not yet tried, but I'm thinking that I will have to within the next few days (barring that my tires don't melt first). It appears that opening a window then opening/closing the opposite door a few times (http://consumerist.com/2011/07/cool-your-car-down-quickly-with-this-trick.html) will draw all the hot air of the car.

Now I'm hungry for Tandoori.

It was 113F the first full day after we moved to CA. That was the hottest day ever recorded in LA. At least in southern California there is rarely any humidity. Just the Sun intensity. I love air con.

I think that you have to do it, just to investigate whether that article was a one off, or whether it always happens like that.
