Let's bowl! After Superbowl XLIX I decided to make an attempt to understand the baffling and incomprehensible game that Americans call football. In this educational video, Kjorteo teaches me the rules and strategies through Tecmo Super Bowl, and it seems to be about getting from line to line, like a much more violent Backgammon. In the end I did quite well, but lost.

I forgot to ask why it was called the Super Bowl.

It's called the Super Bowl because it's much more fun to watch when you're smoking a bowl :D

It's always good to see more Stumbling Together! Thanks to both of you - I think I learned more about American Football in that 40-minute video than in the rest of my life.

At the risk of iconoclasm, though, I still think I'd get more out of the half-time show than the actual game. :P

As an aside, our local provider announced that XLIX (ex-licks is a great way to pronounce that) had 9 million people watching the game and 11 million watching the halftime show, which... I guess says something about the state of sports or entertainment.

You're not alone in that. A lot of people watch the Super Bowl just for the halftime show and/or commercials.
