Everyone must download this now. It is my decree. I can't think why I haven't heard of it in all this time, in fact - it looks like it'll take some work in setting up, the same way that TTDPatch did, but it looks like it even has a stable network mode this time. Additionally it goes some way to making ships less totally useless, which is a great achievement.

Today's Menu

Breakfast
Bowl of dull cornflakes
Egg (coloured blue)
Watery mushrooms

Lunch
Sacrilegious bagel (filled with ham and cheese)
Pastel-coloured cubes tasting of nothing in particular (assumed to once have been vegetables)

Dinner
Suspiciously green fajita filled with unidentified substance

I love hall food, I really do.

In a rather hilarious (to me, at least) coincidence, today I was regaling one of my friends with stories of Melville food to prepare her for living in the halls at the University of London over the summer. I'm glad to see that things haven't improved- I'd hate to think that I was participating in false advertising.

By the way, if there is no such institution as the University of London, it's cause I made it up. I can't remember where she'll be, besides somewhere in London....

The University of London does exist, only it's split up into many different colleges, each of which being large enough to be considered its own university.

blue egg? That is impressive but does it compare to flourescent green chicken we had in the thai green curry in Chattan in my first year I wonder?

In the last week, I've made precisley two hall meals, one of which was a breakfast and so doesn't count. Mind you,I did have to eat out with guests for a couple of meals, but still.

I've been in four halls for meals now in this campaigning period. I have to say that Burnet's dinner was worse than Melville's lunch. Tomato soup with unexplained crunchy bits, quorn stir fry that was shapeless lumps of Not Meat with a soggy mass of shapeless vegetable and dry sweetcorn, chocolate cake that was like eating air. Regs was fantastic though. I'll do a full write-up of the hall food experience on lj after the election once I get bored. In case anyone actually cares.

I would never have thought the hall meals in my day would ever be clased as luxury but after reading of the blue eggs and green fajitas...

Actually, that's unfair. The hall meals I had back in the day were quite good. The kitchen staff at Sallies seemed remarkably keen on veal cutlets, I remember.
