Don't know what this entry's doing here...
May. 1st, 2003 06:40 amI have now been up for... (checks watch)... 23 straight hours. I must be mad. Still, at least I'm not in danger of catching pneumonia.
So, last night the group of Melvillites went up to
tastyniall's flat to drop off some supplies for the night, then to the cinema for The Two Towers. I felt like I was falling asleep just before the interlude, but being able to stand up for a while helped.
Chris and Paulette left after the film, which finished at about 2am, and the rest of us walked back to the flat to spend the morning until the May dip. People were nicely drunk, and the highlight of the evening was when I turned a miniature hockey table on, thinking it was the stereo. (It was next to a speaker, and had an "ON" switch, so it was an easy mistake... maybe.)
Three hours later it was time for the May dip. After I had been Ross-ified once again, we watched Sleigh, Anna, Niall and a few other Sinners leap in to the freezing cold North Sea. Donald went in wearing his full suit, umbrella and all. It can't have done much for his sobriety, though.
The party for the walk back was just Richard, Anna, Sleigh, Donald and my good self - Donald and Anna being slightly inebriated. On the way back we had to haul Donald out of the stream on the golf course, and when we encountered a traffic cone on the North Haugh he ran towards it, chucked his umbrella away, picked it up, shouted something through it as if it was a megaphone, then collapsed. A few prods from the umbrella by Richard soon got him moving again, though.
Was an excellent night/morning all round, really.
I came back to find my radio alarm had gone off in my absence. This leads to two questions... why am I up at 6:40 in the morning? And perhaps more importantly, why is my alarm set at 6:30?
As for the 10.00 lecture... forget it!
