That long without the Internet? Well, not exactly - as I think I might have mentioned before, I'm going down the road to the library quite often now to use the connection there. Trouble is, a couple of sites I visit are blocked (LiveJournal for one) and downloads are disabled. Of course, it would be no problem to get around the meagre security - it uses the same system as the Academy, and that doesn't exactly test anyone's 1337 h4X0ring sk1llz - but it's a matter of politeness.

As I'm writing this, yesterday we went on a small excursion to the Glenfiddich brewery... I'd never visited one before. I can't appreciate the end product myself, but in a way it was quite interesting being led round the vast amount of machinery, and hearing the bizarre names for whisky at various stages in its development - Smot, Wonk, that sort of thing. Or maybe I just made that up. The tour guide talked like a zombie - she must be fed up, having done the same tour over and over again. Still, apparently the pay's quite good for not really doing much work.

As you might have guessed, the lazy days have returned - I've heard nothing else about jobs so far. This morning, I performed the incredible feat of getting up before 9am and going to Thainstone Mart, which is held weekly near Inverurie. I returned with -

The Return of Heroic Failures
The Private Eye "Gnome-Mart" Catalogue
Syphon Filter 2 (The silliest-named game in the world)
Falling Down
The Young Ones - Series One
Reeves and Mortimer's Driving School

Well, perhaps the allegations of my bad taste are well founded. Anyway, there were also a lot of old PC and console games there. Much like Chris and Paul using the MTV voting lists as a checklist, I found I had downloaded most of them - and I've now burned them on to CD, in fact, so my computer's got space to breathe again.

Oh, well. Back to trying to fool my computer in to thinking the serial cable's a modem and simulating a TCP/IP network over the connection. Don't ask me how to do it, I haven't a clue. Other pursuits just now include MOD writing, Daily Click moderating, and working my way through Silent Hill 3. It's managed to be even more disturbing than before - it's like a series of adventure games gone badly wrong.

Added just before I posted this - Inverurie has access to broadband now. <¦-)
