I've got work to do this weekend, but I don't really understand it yet. Still, that didn't stop me passing my exams last semester.

"From the molecular ion cluster at m/z 312 in the mass spectrum of compound X, deduce how many bromine atoms the compound contains."

I mean, what am I supposed to say to that? We'll have an answer-swapping session on Monday, I think. If anyone has any answers, that is.

Chemistry labs are easy as you're just given a set of instructions to follow. Computing's a different matter, though - hours of searching through code to find a missing semicolon. When it begins to work, though, and you get the "Rebuild complete" message rather than "Found 640,256 errors", it's one of the best feelings in the world. (NB My opinion of that may change once I actually get a life). No, that's another thing that annoys me, even branding myself as not having a life. I'll stop, this is going nowhere.

Last night we had a good time bowling in Dundee - I seem to have lost my touch at that, only got a century in one of the games, and then only just. I succeeded in admirably crashing the Silent Scope machine, though - put a pound in and it answered with a simple "ANALOG I/O ERROR" message in the middle of the screen. I did get my money back, though.

Lunch was one of the strangest things I've ever eaten - "chicken crumble", the name invented by Paul. It was exactly as it sounds - a chicken leg covered in breadcrumbs, sort of like half a real chicken and half a chicken fillet.
