From the abyss it's the Savior's return...
Mar. 8th, 2004 07:24 pmI nearly managed to stay awake through Jon Lewis' lecture this morning, though Roger woke us all up later with his impressions of him and the way that he could be a game show host because of how he laughs after every sentence.
As for Chemistry, Neville Richardson's back as a lecturer. I last had him at the very start of first year. His new tactic for getting people to pay attention is to hand out pre-printed notes with things missing from them that you have to fill in as you go along. Otherwise, they're exactly the same as the projected notes, making his lectures in to a chemical-themed game of Spot the Difference.
The CS task for this week was pretty horrendous, but after close to a four-hour struggle our little group managed to get through about half of it. I have to say I don't understand the concept of pointers at all, I just have to throw some &s and *s in to the code wherever I feel like it and hope for the best. So I'll go back on Wednesday.
On the way back I saw a rubber Buchner seal at the bottom of the Melville path. I'm not sure how it could have got there.
In a while I'll go and speak with the duty warden about the state of the hall, armed with a printed copy of
raphx's elegantly thought out discourse on Why This Hall Sucks. Wish me luck.
