I do enjoy end of term Chemistry presentations. There's a great atmosphere to them that reminds me a lot of the last day of school, particularly as I was only doing the one course and so didn't have to actually present anything. I wandered through to the first year lab with my folder tucked under my arm, scaring them by appearing to be a demonstrator, and had a look around there as well - some of them had spent about £40 on getting their posters done in massive size at Reprographics. Madness.
After spending a while in the common room (with wine served by none other than
kibet, among others) we decided to go out in the evening. The Cellar Bar isn't one of my favourite places, mostly because it's just a cupboard full of smoke, but we got there early so it wasn't too bad. Later in the night we relocated to the Union, and then home. And so that's the end of my second year classes - well, there was meant to be a revision lecture this morning, but that doesn't count as I couldn't be bothered to go.
Today was spent pretending to do lab reports. I have four fully finished, but all the work I've actually done are fill in the blank bits on two of the ones that I'd previously done and started on a fifth.
Good news, I've just heard that my brother's got in to AMH next year! So people will have both of us to put up with.
By the way, the legendary GLC video is now up on my webspace as a Powerpoint file: http://wired.st-and.ac.uk/~wong/glc.zip It's really an in-joke and not immediately funny for most people as there's a lot of Dr Seth to wade through in between the good bits, but it should be a laugh for any fellow chemists.
Julien-K are weird.
