davidn: (bald)

I never realised quite how many letter Is are in that word.

As I made a tradition of last year, I got up and went to the JHB this morning to avoid the fire alarm test. It was there that I made another attempt at writing up a livejournal entry on a Mac, and remembered when I'd finished it about how it had crashed last time I tried to do that. So I finished off the entry, and to my astonishment the sodding thing did it again. It must have been because I insulted its mouse during the write-up.

Tragedy has struck, though, because the New Hall shop has permanently closed. I'm going to have to walk to Tesco to get my washing powder and milk now. But it'll be more exercise - something I've been getting more of than usual recently, what with the walking around, the DDR, and the bouncy castle at the Union (I'm sure they were less exhausting when I was ten.)

My advising meeting lasted one minute and twenty one seconds - the gist of it was "David Newton? Oh, I've met your father. Your courses look fine. See you in lectures." So I've now matriculated and got my new-look card. It's utterly bland, like the old one with more space and less colour. I was expecting something much more elaborate, and not easy to fake.

The constant stream of junk mail - or rather, worthwhile society leaflets - making its way under my door has made sure that my new paper recycling bin has got a lot of use. Sadly my room is still full of cardboard.

I've been giving Timo Kotipelto's album "Coldness" another chance recently - a lot of albums don't make an impression on me the first time but get better. This is certainly better than I remember, but the man comes up with the most bland song titles ever ("Around"? "Here we are"?) and he really can't write endings. They're usually just the same uninteresting riff that eventually just sort of stops. Like this entry.

(Further, it's happened again: I went to edit this entry and Livejournal have suddenly changed their interface. It's quite incredible.)
