Much better dream
Oct. 6th, 2008 01:03 pmThis morning I awoke at 6:30am and was called through to the bathroom where I saw a surprising amount of water dripping down from the gaping hole in the ceiling, which made me forget most of what happened during the night instantly, but bits of the madness have been coming back together throughout the morning. I hope that they're trying to find the source of the leak while I'm writing this.
This time the dream opened when we were boarding a plane to somewhere (why do aeroplanes seem to feature so prominently in my dreams?) - we were flying with Persian Airlines, and I think we were going back from a holiday, so it's reasonable to assume that we were flying to Boston, but I've no idea where we actually were. The plane was unconventional in design and more resembled a spacecraft of some kind with triangular wings. The inside was much more comfortable than a normal plane, looking slightly more like a tour boat with wide leather sofa-like seats.
We took off down a conventional runway perfectly normally, in formation together with two medium green double-decker buses. When the buses took off they climbed at the same rate as us for about fifty feet, but the massive rocket boosters on their backs then sputtered and died, leaving them to tumble out of the sky with all the grace of... falling double decker buses, I suppose, and they crashed and rolled to a halt back at the side of the runway. We were worried that our plane would do the same thing, but all was well as we sailed into the air.
Until we spontaneously caught fire. This didn't seem as immediately alarming as it might sound, because we were flying very low above the sea when it happened, and the pilot calmly decided to dip the plane (which was now shaped like a frog for some reason) into it, fly underwater for a few seconds, and then burst back out again. Obviously it didn't go quite according to plan, because the next thing I remember we were milling about some island that we'd had to perform an emergency landing on. I can't remember much of the rest, but it involved finding a hidden underground base constructed entirely out of bookshelves, housing a group of rebels that was led by Brian Blessed.
Yes, I did bake oatmeal biscuits yesterday, but I can't remember putting anything obviously strange in them.
