JetBlueLag
Dec. 2nd, 2008 12:51 pmI've been completely unable to function at anything more than a basic level for two days now and might become the first person to actually die of jetlag. I don't remember it ever being this difficult when I experienced eight-hour differences after flying back to Britain from California on a ten-hour flight - and this time we were only three hours behind for a week. I slept in short periods for a total of about five hours last night. It seems like such a waste of time when you're lying there and all you can think about is how nice it would be to sleep while you notice every little noise from anywhere around you.
I at least have the opportunity to work at home and not have to interact with the outside world, but even doing anything is difficult - I am almost completely without the use of my brain and am having difficulty even getting a parameter passed to a JSP page, which is the web equivalent of making a cup of tea. (Talking to some of our clients in this state, though, has naturally become much easier.) Shaving this morning was also not a good experience, not just because I hadn't bothered in about three days but more because my fine motor skill has been shot down to nothing and I kept on making the other sideburn too short like that old Karl Valentin joke about sawing the uneven leg off a table. Eventually they were removed entirely, which is just as well otherwise I would probably have gone right around and shaved a band across my entire head.
We'll probably play a bit more of Silent Hill Origins after I finish what little work I'm capable of. Experiencing that in this state will be even more confusing than the series is normally.
