Our flight left Boston yesterday at 7:50PM, and we weren't on it. This was just as well, because in the end it went to Utah instead.

The weekend was one continuous snowstorm, and the street outside has been transformed into a winter wonderland with genuine two-foot-high walls of snow lining the pavements. There were continual reports of flights being cancelled or redirected on the news, and JetBlue was offering free changes for people planning to fly on Friday or Sunday, so yesterday afternoon we moved our journey to Monday instead. It seems that it's been a good decision so far - we can only hope that the better weather stays until tonight, but it's certainly going to be better than experiencing a flight through a country-wide snow cloud.

Of course, I'm worried that the airport is going to be busy because of everyone who was going to fly yesterday flying today instead - when the time came to book our seats I was refreshing the page like the last seconds of an eBay auction because I was certain that everyone in Boston would be doing the same thing waiting for the online check-in to become available, and after zooming through the security pages I managed to get two exit-row seats (in different rows, but the thought was there). So I don't think it's going to be that uncomfortable.

We have one day fewer with Whitney's family now, but if the flight flies this time then we'll get there for Christmas. We've already opened our presents to each other that were too big to come with us - Whitney got me a widescreen monitor to replace the refurbished one I've been using as a secondary display for a while, and I've got her an Aerogarden, which seems to be a sort of potted plant from Star Trek with indicator lights on its base marked things like "Initial germination" and "Adaptive intelligence".
