Number 10 petitions
May. 13th, 2009 11:13 amA lot of people have probably seen this by now, but I just heard of it on Have I Got News For You, which I only get when I remember to download it. It's now just about the only way I hear anything about the country.
If you're outside Britain and haven't heard of this already, our now spectacularly unpopular Prime Minister has been trying to salvage his image by going all Barack Obama and tapping into the power of the Internet. His Youtube channel has backfired wonderfully, most famously containing a horrifying Youtube video with a smile that looks like it had to be artificially created by pulling his mouth up at the corners with invisible string. But it's the section of the Number 10 site that allows people to create and sign petitions that's the most telling of his position at the moment - there's one petition that's beating all the others in popularity by quite an incredible margin.
