I couldn't help noticing that somebody has let that ghastly Ann Coulter creature on television again (well, I say "somebody" - it was FOX News, naturally), but what she has to say this time is surprising - apparently she'll support Hillary Clinton over John McCain if the two are running against each other because McCain doesn't hate gay people or non-Christians enough, or something like that. Nobody is sure what goes on in this woman's head, but if she doesn't like the Republican candidate then it's fair to say that he must be doing something right. I'm hoping that this means that the surprising number of Americans who listen to her will go for the Democratic side of the final presidential race, but equally it'll probably turn off those who are in possession of all their faculties of reason.

I don't have the right to vote in America yet because I'm too foreign, but the rest of them have a chance to get the place back to being a country again instead of a sort of international joke - naturally I'd love it if Obama won this time, but because the country doesn't have a stellar record of electing a suitable leader I'm trying to remain optimistic about the other two. Hillary's campaign has been... a bit dodgy so far, but at least her husband did something decent to the economy, and even if people go for Iraqi-bashing McCain instead, anything's uphill from where they are now. But that much was obvious already. When you have three candidates and all their individual merits are overshadowed by the way that they couldn't possibly be as bad as the last one, something is wrong.

Just nine months until it's over - looking on the bright side, it's actually flown past and most of the world is still here. Let's not do that again.

That can't be the real Ann Coulter - she must have been abducted by aliens and had her brain transplanted or something. A couple of months ago she was saying that women shouldn't be allowed to vote because they'll vote for the Democrats, because they offer to give them better maternity leave rights and healthcare access, and then the entire country would go to the dogs if you start treating women and poor people like middle class men like human beings. Either that or she's just an attention whore who has found something to say that will make even more people look at her.

I would be surprised if McCain never got it. I doubt america would vote in a woman or black man. Plus McCain will probably die in office and it will go to his vice president, so as long as they are ok then he should get the votes.

Doesn't matter who they vote in...Republican...Democrat...all made in taiwan!!!

I feel pretty confident that they will vote for a black man when republicans went to the polls yesterday in Virginia and voted for Obama in the primary.

ah yes the obamacans. I would be quite happy to be wrong with some of his views could be something that could save america for further turmoil. Obviously he might not be able to do what RFK could have done had he became president, but he should be able to do something.

I am very surprised, especially with how it has developed over the past year.

He has been classed as too European, he has been seen to listen to people, all of which don't really match a presidential candidate (other than RFK).

I am not only surprised with him winning but how much he has won by. It did seem pretty close for most states. I just wonder if it would have been closer if there was not the economic crisis.

How old is his kids? let's hope that it is not voting age as otherwise he let slip that he bought their votes.
"Sasha and Malia, I love you both so much, and you have earned the new puppy that's coming with us to the White House. "

This election is very encouraging to me. It seems like people are getting involved and actually voting at levels that I've never seen (although it's possible that I just wasn't paying attention before, but I've never heard so much about primaries). Plus all of the truly vile candidates are out! I mean, Romney? Please! Somebody should have punched him in the face while they had the chance. Picture it: live televised CNN debate, and Anderson Cooper gets up and wallops Romney. It would be beyond awesome if Obama gets elected, but I'd be ok with Hillary, and if it has to be a Republican, McCain seems like the best of that crowd. On the other hand, I actually had to listen to someone make the following comment, "Great. A woman, a black, and a geezer." To which I said, "WTF?!" and slapped them silly. Anyway, I'm excited! I'll definitely be getting my absentee ballot when I'm in New Zealand.
