Happy 2009, everyone - especially to people who messaged me the same last night and who I didn't reply to (we're one of the last areas to get it, and we slept until noon anyway).

To put how old we now are in perspective, if you're interested, this year The Matrix (which I still think of as a new film) will be ten years old. So will the Dreamcast, outside Japan. The original Gameboy will be 20 years old, and the Mac will have been around for quarter of a century (and so will our Amstrad, the only computer to have survived in my room with no replacement parts whatsoever). Come to think of it, so will I.

The Matrix fact blows my mind and I immediately told it to no less than five people upon reading it.

I still think of Jurassic Park and Independance Day as new films. Indy 3 I don't think as a new film but I don't think of it being 20 years old. Well 19.5 y/o. I suppose that is why there is a huge influx of 80s remakes.

The really scary thing is we're coming up on 10 years since The Phantom Menace. Kids who loved Jar Jar Binks and it was aimed at will be leaving school now...

Jar Jar Binks deserves all the praise they give him.
