My latest culinary masterwork

This is the first day that I've made it to the station but then just given up all hope of a train ever coming - the pavement is a one-inch-thick sheet of ice. As Whitney's out at work while I do my job at home, I'm secretly baking surprise oatmeal cookies for her to come back to. I'm normally good at that, but I realized too late that we didn't have any eggs, so I just threw in some mayonnaise that we had lying around instead. I fear that these cookies are going to absolutely redefine the word "surprise".

This post's invisible to her just now - I might open it up if she detects that anything is amiss. The egg substitute was on the advice of the Internet, and the dough tastes fine to me.

Do tell how they turned out - I've used a load of egg replacers in my time (damn things are expensive) but never tried mayo.

They didn't turn out badly... all the recipe called for was a single yolk, so I only used a tiny bit and some oil (which the Internet told me was a suitable substitute binder). I think that they're a little more... gritty than usual, perhaps just because of not having enough liquid, or just that it's my imagination playing up because I know there's bloody mayonnaise in them.

I actually think they should taste fine. Although they may taste different to normal though as maybe slightly acidic.

Regardless of how well it worked it, I still don't think I could eat those cookies, because of image of it:
"Hmm, no eggs? I know, mayonnaise! No chocolate chips; broccoli!"

I'm having difficulty with them myself, even though they taste fine. And mayonnaise is made with egg - it's... semi-logical!
