I'm immensely proud to report that somebody tried to retrieve the password for my journal this morning - I woke up to an email entitled "Lost Password" that detailed that someone had filled out the form that requests your password be reset. But I'm not sure what they hoped to achieve by this, because the link to confirm the password reset is sent to the email address associated with the account, and after you've followed that, the new random password is sent to the same email address again. So all that happened was that I got an unexpected email, and as I'm now relentlessly spammed by any company I've so much as bought a packet of paperclips from in this country or any other, not even that annoying an email by comparison.

Nevertheless, their IP address is 124.191.115.138 and they live in Hawthorn in Australia.

There's been a big thing about people doing this - apparently hotmail recycles inactive email addresses, so maybe they thought since yours is so old it must be inactive by now? I don't know, but LJ news spoke about it I think.

There must be something exciting to do with the IP address!

Hotmail measures inactive by how long since you've logged into them, because they are fucking stupid...
