Yes, I'm afraid I did.
Every year on this day I encourage people to avoid wallowing in the mire of their own self-pity and cheer up and do something about it (though I haven't seen any of that this year - well done!) but to tell the truth I've never really known how to deal with Valentine's Day. For us it falls almost exactly between our wedding anniversaries so we can treat it as a half-year celebration, but the things deemed to be romantic that we're encouraged to do on the day seem unavoidably ridiculous to me.

We got ourselves an Edible Arrangement on the way back from the cinema (that was the smallest one I could find a picture of), and gave each other gifts today. Once again breaking out of traditional Valentines, Whitney presented me with a bag of sausages and wild boar bacon, and I gave her an apple corer and an ice cream scoop. Normally this choice of gifts might have proven fatal, but there's also a dressing gown on its way for her (colour unknown) - I would have liked that to have arrived before the date did.

Then we went to the supermarket.

I'm currently listening to the new Los Campesinos! album,
Romance is Boring and wearing the corresponding T-shirt, while dealing with a major essay crisis.

I'm not sre if this is wallowing in self-pity or not, as I really, love this album. It does, however, have songs like I Just Sighed. I Just Sighed, Just So You Know. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R98qQDEwzLk&feature=PlayList&p=FB481B4A0D078A33&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=31)

Glad you've had a good one.

"Whitney presented me with a bag of sausages and wild boar bacon..."

That's the best Valentine's Day gift I've ever seen. "Chocolates? No, that's too mainstream - what we really need here are large quantities of MEAT!" :D Awesome. :P

Hope you both had a great day!

"It falls almost exactly between our wedding anniversaries"

I'm confused! Why do you have two different wedding anniversaries..?

and yeah, I started to suspect that was what you meant, but the plurals just lined up in such a way that I had to at least make sure. X3
