I'd known that they'd done... well, I thought it was simply an acoustic album, so I thought I knew what to expect before clicking the link, but I didn't expect Dr Stein meets The Blues Brothers. The only explanation for this is that they wanted to re-invoke the Chameleon spirit and further wind up the fans who deny everything that they've ever been after Michael Kiske's merciful departure.

They appear to have based this entire video on the premise "screw it, let's just have fun with this." I mean, everyone from the band to the guy playing Dr. Stein appears to be having a blast with all the hamming up they get to do, really. They could be trying to troll their own fanbase, too--if the number of Ruined FOREVER comments on this video are any indication, it appears to have worked.

Also, the face warping on the "they become great politicians" line is amazing, and probably my favorite part of the entire video.

Increasingly, it seems that that's the premise of the entire band - and they made that pretty clear right from the very start with things like "Rise and Fall" starring a swanee-whistle, and, well, Dr Stein itself originally. They revel in silliness, and for that reason it's mystifying that as shown in those video comments, there are somehow people under the impression that there's any point in taking any of it seriously.

That face-warping gave me a huge jump the first time it happened, and I had to make sure when embedding this that it wasn't dead in the middle and therefore shown in the preview picture!

I enjoyed only two albums with Deris - Metal Jukebox and Dark Ride. But sadly, they abandoned that direction.

They do have a similar sense of that Edguy craziness, now :) They seem to like... experimenting with every release, in one way or another - with Metal Jukebox being a collection of unlikely covers (which I still haven't actually heard) and Dark Ride going in an allegedly darker, heavier direction while still opening with "Mr Torture".

For a long time, Helloween were a band where I only liked a couple of songs out of every album (but I always thought that those two or three songs were really good), but I was surprised by how much I liked Gambling with the Devil - I think that it's actually my favourite release by Helloween, and that's unusual for a band that's been going for as long as they have.

My single favorite album of theirs to date remains Rabbit Don't Come Easy which is a bit of an overlooked oddity--most people seem to assume that it must be their obligatory forgettable filler album (it's even called Rabbit Don't Come Easy, a name they got from thinking "pulling the rabbit from the hat this time isn't going to be easy, what with the constant lineup changes and all!") However, it's surprisingly solid start to end, and even has "Just a Little Sign" on it.
