Denied

I've just received a letter telling me that my application for a credit card has been denied, two weeks after we were entrusted with enough money to buy a small house. There's something very backwards about that.

I think I'm going to have to start in a less ambitious fashion by just getting one of those cards that they spam constantly through the post, the ones where they'll just take any old riff-raff.

I once got denied a credit card for the retail company that I happened to work for at the time. It actually made me very wary about accepting every credit card app that was pushed my way.

I'm sure you don't need the advice, but just be careful about those credit cards in the mail. With their 20-30% interest rates, there's a reason America's in so much debt :P

I'm trying to remember, were you actually going to use it or just have it to build your credit rating?

I think that the idea was just to have it quietly building a rating - buy something inconsequential, pay it off, and then just have it sit in a drawer for about five years. Why this makes me any more trustworthy is beyond me...
