Further cake experiments
Apr. 17th, 2010 12:44 amIn the interests of science, I convinced Whitney to help me put together a short video demonstrating some other properties (besides edibility and alphabetizability) of the cakettes that I mentioned in my last entry.

I may have taken slight advantage of the fact that she had a cold and was just up, so her brain's what-the-hell-are-you-doing department had not yet engaged. The sudden application of force caused the week-old cake to basically vaporize into a dust storm of rock-solid microparticles, which I'm still picking out of the corners of the flat. I think that given enough maturing time, they could be used as fairly lethal projectiles.

Date: 2010-04-17 05:53 am (UTC)I think I eventually recovered enough cake to account for about half of the original block.

Date: 2010-04-17 06:13 am (UTC)Cake-in-a-mug
Date: 2010-04-17 08:48 pm (UTC)4 tablespoons sugar
6 tablespoons SR flour (or plain flour with a bit of baking powder)
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence, or anything else you want to use for flavouring, e.g. cinnamon, ginger, coffee, a splash of orange juice.
Put all of the ingredients into a large coffee mug and mix it all together. If it's incredibly stodgy and thick, add a bit more milk. Put the mug in the microwave for about three minutes on 3/4 power, then leave it to stand for a couple of minutes. Run a knife around the inside of the mug to loosen the cake and turn it out on to a plate, or just eat it from the mug with a spoon.
