The final part of this week's Holidaystar uploads sees another aspect of Moa's brilliant storytelling coming through - her ability to wrench us from the hilarity of the previous episode into a tragic backstory which gives us a new perspective on the significance of there weird little bipedal doves. Evidently our characters haven't learned much in the way of survival skills, but everything seems to turn out all right in the end. Except we know that this can't be the end - it's going to be just the beginning of something much, much deeper.

I'm looking forward to finding out what that might be...

Awww, I was hoping we'd see the radio/shrine segments today. D:

I was asking if we'd hired Underdog. (There's no need to fear, Underdog is here!) Old superhero cartoon that got made into a movie a few years back.

Given that you're talking to someone who actually didn't mind the movie (and, in reference to the link, also liked the sequels to the Matrix), no, that is most decidedly not what I mean. :b

The mood-whiplash of the game continues - I was actually quite disgusted when Sakuya sold out the WeirdPeeps to Shuu... I kind of... didn't want to send them to that fate at all. For all that people who specialise in getting outraged by things make a fuss over games like Hitman and Assassin's Creed as being murder simulators... this actually kind of gave that term meaning, because you got to see them as characters, not just targets.

On the other hand, Shuu in a Santa hat is amazing. His "I AM HATING YOU ALL TO DEATH" glare has never been more appropriate, or more hilarious. :P I like to think, since this is a semi-not-canon alternate reality-type thing, that the Christmas spirit gets into him a little frustration gets to him and he eventually sends Miru and Kaku off to an orphanage somewhere; it's already been established he takes his promises seriously, even ones he makes to young children/fledgelings. (Goodness knows what the Christmas Thieves count as, but 'children' is probably close.)

I imagine the sole reason he's holding onto them is because they were created and cared for by Ryuuji, whom Shuu (or, more appropriately, Isa) had strong feelings for...kinda like having a part of his past back in his life.

I wasn't exactly thrilled with that decision, either, and I am Sakuya! You may have noticed the liberties I took with that line. :P

But yes, they're probably safe with Shuu, because they were Ryuuji's charges, and while I don't think Shuu is the type to get nostalgic or romantic or anything to the extent Xaq claims, it's probably at least good enough for a begrudging "well, I can't just kill them" (which is actually pretty impressive by Shuu standards!)
