Spontaneous holiday

The great Boston hide and seek match of 2013 eventually concluded 1-0 to the American side with one fatality (which is still less deadly than it was whenever the Venture Scouts played it). After combing Watertown throughout the day, the police eventually lifted the shelter-in-place order and the streets started coming to life again - then a resident about five minutes away from us noticed a trail of blood leading to the boat he had propped up in the garden, and the order was reinstated.

We were unaffected by that point, though, because the moment the first shelter order was lifted we had thrown pants, socks and toothpaste into a bag and fled to the north - we are now on spontaneous holiday in New Hampshire. We were listening to the radio on the way up, and when we arrived at our hotel we saw them finally move in and capture the bomber alive on the news.

The last week has not been good for my nerves, and I'm hoping to just spend a nice couple of days relaxing while waiting for the remains of the situation, along with my general displeasure, to calm down. But whenever I say I live in Watertown, this is going to be what people think of for a very long time.

We're in a hotel just next to Portsmouth - it's where we spent our anniversary last year. It's a nice, quiet place - with a surprisingly extensive music shop and a little Irish place with a ton of great British foods (and IRN-BRU).

oh! that's a decently long drive from Boston. We only went to Portsmouth to shop at the mall, so my knowledge of the area is limited. Downtown is nice, from what I remember. Sounds like a good time though, and well deserved!

That would be the worst survival instinct ever - time to get away for a while, there's a nice-looking place called Silent Hill that I saw in this brochure which is slightly stained with what looks like tomato juice.

At least it wasn't Illsmouth.

Somehow, I don't think "I can come and stalk you now" is a very reassuring message after your house has been searched by a federal anti-terrorist task-force looking for a mad bomber with a gun.

Awwh, really? You know, I always try to keep it toned down. . . :( Why you should have seen the first version! Though in all seriousness, with all the information people just leave laying around, it's really reasonable to find out anything about anyone.

Don't worry, though: the probability of me going to Boston, is very low. . . . .Not that the thought of seeing me has to make you uncomfortable! :o

That was definitely a wise move, and it's fortunate that you scrambled and got out when you did if the window between lockdowns was so narrow. I'm glad they captured the culprit and that you're unhurt and things can now slowly return to normal, but ... you're right, this really isn't what you needed while dealing with stress/anxiety issues, is it.
