With the Super Metroid series finally and regrettably over, here are some videos by other people of one of my games! [livejournal.com profile] rakarr found one of them this morning and sent it on to me, and having not vanity-searched it in a long time, I was really surprised to see any presence of it on Youtube.

The first is by someone who vaguely knows of my existence through the GameFAQs classic games board, but he was recommended it by someone with no connection to me - this is Revelengance's twenty-minute playthrough. My favourite moment is his voice acting of the introduction!

The second is the one that was found by [livejournal.com profile] rakarr, and is notable for being one hour long, on a moderately popular channel, and for the player's amazing Northern accent.

I released Crystal Towers 2 about four years too late to be impressive... but just at the right time for people to spread it around!

Wilkshire really is SUCH A COOL CAT NAME.

Obviously I can fire the game up and play it in its finished state, but I'm so familiar with it, and it went through so many incremental changes during the whole playtesting period that it takes watching someone else playing it to really appreciate just how far it came, and it truly did. I don't recall all the specifics, but I think when I first played it it had Walnut Creek A, Magma Falls A, Ironworks A and maybe Luminous Tower A. It didn't have half the features of the finished game, like synthesis, and it certainly didn't have the level backgrounds, which came closer to the end... I remember Magma Falls used to have the Ironworks music, the hub had vast amounts of incompleteness, and there was no trace of most of the small touches that make the game as polished and playable as it is.

It did have some very fun bosses, though.

Anyway... I'm struggling to remember everything, because it's all a bit of a blur now, but the specifics don't matter. Congratulations, again, on the monumental achievement of finishing this.

Watching this made me want to go back to this, but I couldn't remember how to do much of anything....

So I started a new file. :D

My favourite part in the second video is when he refers to the Ceiling Crawlers in Luminous Tower as "Mr-Blobby-patterned-space-f*ckin'-police-things". Which means you have, in fact, unleashed Mr. Blobby on us, in your own way.

Your journey toward the Dark Side is complete. You have become the Furry Noel Edmonds.

*lightning crash*

I like how both reviewers, upon seeing the title "watch out for the bees!" each, almost immediately, attack a bee head on. . .then spend the rest of the level lamenting over how hard the bees are to avoid :P
