What is the matter with this country?! Why can’t you have normal crisp flavours like smoky bacon, roast chicken, squirrel, Aberdonian haggis, vodka and IRN-BRU…

Heh, and here I'm trying to do the exact opposite. One major thing they drilled into our heads in boot camp was how to properly write things like dates and such on documents; they hammered the idea of "8/3/14" out and replaced it with "03AUG14" (complete with / marks through the 0's to differentiate them from O's).

I've tried getting myself out of that and back to the "normal" ##/##/## way of doing it...for whatever reason, I'm really not sure why...but to this date I still use that ##ABC#### form.

In fairness, though, at least "03AUG" doesn't have any chance of making me wonder if the date was August 3rd or March 8th.
