Surprisingly, the Melville lunches have been consistently edible this week - they just need to extend the same standards to dinner and meals might actaully become all right.

Apparently there was an open surgery with the duty warden last night, though it wasn't very well advertised at all. (Wonder why that was.) So I missed it, but I'll get a chance to talk with them some time. I was thinking of printing out [livejournal.com profile] raphx's long rant and pointing that out to them.

I have just had the worst lecture ever, with Roy Dyckhoff (who bears quite a resemblance to Treebeard). I don't know how you pronounce his name, but it's a fairly unfortunate one in any case. It was a forty-five minute long barrage of gibberish from the start, which would have been understandable if he didn't use such pretentious wording to describe it all - he makes it seem far more complicated than it really is. It was the first lecture that I've really switched off in for a while. Eventually I just decided to ignore him and wrote a song instead.

It's sunny. It hasn't been sunny for ages. I could barely remember what it looked like. And I've got a CH lab.

What a very interesting lab period. After titrating performing titrations for a while, the last part of the experiment was heating up the product and testing it.

Attempt 1: Heated test tube. It formed a cloudy black substance that was apparently a high explosive, and I was lucky it didn't go off.
Attempt 2: Heated test tube. It blew up.
Attempt 3: In a stroke of genius, scraped remains of product from 2 in to another test tube and performed tests on that. It worked.

At least I'm now an entire lab period ahead of time, and am free to go to the wedding tomorrow. Hooray!
