Dec. 31st, 2013

Oh, wow, it's the 31st - quick, a yearly review post. Hmm.

Well, 2013 was a largely dreadful year. This is mostly due to its first half being completely taken up by coping with and finding a cure for a physical illness that was brought on by the pandemonic last few months of 2012. It had been brought on by a built-up depression - up until then I had assumed I was just British. Combined with that, there was the unexpected closure of Furfright and some matters at work that have been frankly worrying me for a while. I also cannot help but notice that I am still living in a country that cares more about some sort of dishevelled badger-man on a duck-related programme than any trace of societal evolution.

There have been good things throughout, though - not least that I got myself on to proper medication to be freed of the symptoms that had been making me miserable. And this year, even more than the last, was the Year of the Pigeon - after the Holidaystar videos, the bizarre family that we have created around it has got better than ever. Unexpectedly, it rose to become one of the things I've been involved with that really has affected people's lives! And we at least got to attend the final Furfright together and have plans to meet again no matter where it ends up being. I also found myself once again promoted at work, once on purpose and once accidentally (I seem to be down as a Solutions Architect in the arcane new system now even though that position and that pay grade are at least ten years away from me in reality).

So this year, if anything, has been proof that it is impossible to foretell what's going to happen in the next year. Therefore it's pointless to speculate - but I hope that it is good to us all!
