A proposed improvement to the Windows updater. I seem to be doing quite a lot of these lately.

Oddly enough, Service Pack 2 is working fine on my machine, even though I seem to have had to install about a hundred and fifty individual little updates since I reinstalled last weekend, and they're still coming in daily.

If only it were like that. Is there a command to make that thing f*** off? I know there's one for the 60 second RPC shutdown.

How many of us are there left in the world who can remember a time when computers weren't oppressively paternal and actually did what they were told? :S

Thankfully, I hear Vista has the ability to "actually take a bloody hint" after you've closed that thing a few times.

The worst thing is when you leave the computer by itself then come back to find that it has restarted, just as you were in the middle of something big.
