An old project might be coming back again (and doesn't it feel strange describing it like that) - I've submitted Crystal Towers 2 to Greenlight on Steam!

If you've got an account, I'd really appreciate a vote up and a few words, followed by optionally spamming it to all your friends everywhere. The more votes I get on this thing, the better a chance I have of it eventually seeing a release there. I would also welcome any copy-editing of the description I currently have there, because I am terrible at advertising my own games, possessing as I do the natural enthusiasm of a bag of pencil-shavings.

Even besides that, plans are also in place to have it featured as part of an independent bundle - so it may get a revitalization either way.

(Incidentally, [livejournal.com profile] lupineangel... yes, am I legally okay just considering your picture the official cover artwork for the game, by now?)

What's wrong with Final Fantasy 6's cover...?

I'm guessing you weren't a subscriber to Nintendo Power when the game came out either, then. They did a fantastic job of spilling all those nice little details about the game before most folks even got their hands on a copy. :[

Granted, the game itself did a fine job of screwing some things up, like having the Esper menu available right from the start, long before you even knew more than the frozen one in Narshe existed, let alone were things you could get.

Right, but at least if you didn't know what they were then it wasn't a spoiler ;)

. . .it hasn't been that long since you completed it, right?

Been over a year, actually. (http://davidn.livejournal.com/460042.html)

In hindsight, looking back at it, I recall wondering how good a game could possibly be for only $5. Guess that train of thought's been doubly derailed since then...for that, I do believe I owe an apology.

One of these days, I may go back to CT2 and try getting further in it...I'm fairly sure I'd need a controller rather than a keyboard to do that, though. As quick as I am typing, for games I just don't function as well without a big lump of button-covered plastic between my hands. (Preferably a PS3 controller, but that's just me.) Which brings up a question I suppose should've asked months ago...does CT2 work with USB controllers? o_O

only a bit over a year. . . . It isn't that recent, is it??

oh, and regardless of whatever, there are programs you can utilize to map keyboard buttons to a controller, so you should be able to use one regardless of what David designed his game to untilize.

I would have probably paid five or six times as much, for the record! I'm not sure I would have done that had I not already anticipated that it would be pretty good, but that's what the demo is presumably for. As it was, since I'd been observing your progress already, I went straight for the full version without hesitation (if I recall correctly—note that the error bars tend to be very wide on my recollections of how much hesitation I went through before doing any past action that while useful was not life-shatteringly meaningful in the grand scheme of things).

I don't have a Steam account, but I hope this gets enough votes - it certainly deserves it!

And yes - I'm honoured you'd want to use my pic! If it goes through, then it'd be the very first picture I've ever produced that ended up being used in a commercial project! (And if I'm okay with using that as a selling point for my art, then you're certainly okay with using the picture!)

Best of luck to you, man!
