What is the matter with this country?! Why can’t you have normal crisp flavours like smoky bacon, roast chicken, squirrel, Aberdonian haggis, vodka and IRN-BRU…
At least the “Use By” date is printed in the second most logical ordering, with alphabetic disambiguation of form in the center. Does that soothe your qualms somewhat?
Sort of. I've taken to writing dates like that with three letters for the month whenever I can just so that I don't have to think about whether the month or the day comes first (when it should obviously be the year, but failing that...)
Heh, and here I'm trying to do the exact opposite. One major thing they drilled into our heads in boot camp was how to properly write things like dates and such on documents; they hammered the idea of "8/3/14" out and replaced it with "03AUG14" (complete with / marks through the 0's to differentiate them from O's).
I've tried getting myself out of that and back to the "normal" ##/##/## way of doing it...for whatever reason, I'm really not sure why...but to this date I still use that ##ABC#### form.
In fairness, though, at least "03AUG" doesn't have any chance of making me wonder if the date was August 3rd or March 8th.
