Either the plague altered my sense of smell or the hall smells of jam doughnuts. There is a large stain outside the B-block door. My illness is now just in the neck and throat and I am now eating crisps in an attempt to scratch it clean from the inside.

Perhaps the stain is super-concentrated jam doughnut essence, and is exuding the smell?
