davidn: (good)
I got a copied version of Epica from David Moore, though I'll probably still get the genuine article as well. It could be problematic to rip to MP3, seeing as the entire album, with the exception of the first two tracks, is one long song.

I think I achieved something of a world record today. I crashed the computer before it had even got around to getting in to Windows - pressing the ? button followed by X on the password dialog messes it up rather flagrantly. It spent a while trying to find "My Computer", then gave up. After that, I managed to crash it even earlier by removing the boot disk halfway through startup. That's not even to mention the problems I had with my printer last evening. And the PS2's memory card has stopped working. Damn the machine.

On to the more important stuff, as if there was any. A couple of days ago we went out to see the castle that apparently inspired Dracula - just up the coast from here. It was most impressive, but also unfortunately served to remind me that I should get Justus to watch Knightmare some time. I had pretty much forgotten about the programme until I came to St Andrews, now I'm a fanatic again. What have you all done to me? No, I did it myself.

After that we went on to Collieston, a quaint (and yes, I've never used that word before but there's no other way to describe it) little village by the sea, where my brother had managed to split his knee open years ago by falling on to some bad-tempered rocks. My mother was going all soft over a couple's six-day old baby... just wait until she hits 13, becomes a goth and gets a mobile phone clamped to her ear. Cynical? Never.

Phil and Dave were round a couple of evenings ago, we watched the original Star Wars film (that's the first one made and fourth one in the series, not the fourth one made and the first in the series), Bowling for Columbine and Hannibal. I have to say that Bowling for Columbine has now got its place as the most depressing film I've ever watched. I would honestly probably have broken down in front of it had it not been for the comic relief moments. I hate even the idea that humans can do that to each other. And to blame it on computer games, or "angry, heavy metal sub-culture", or at least that's what I think it said... well, it's ludicrous, as most of the people in the room at the time would tell you.

I went job-hunting yesterday, but no real luck so far. The council might have something, though. The library didn't have anything, but they checked my borrower's card, and were surprised to find that it still had my old telephone number and postcode on it. (The 01467 area numbers were changed about ten years ago). Rather a miracle that I still had my card, in fact. So there's a point in keeping so much junk in my wallet and jacket after all.

Now I've got acres of SAAS forms to fill in. And after that I'll listen to some more German metal, go and shoot my neighbour in the face and nick his television.
